Test S: Turn Signal/Hazard Indicator Is Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate both right and left turn signals. Operate hazard lights. If turn signals and hazard lights operate correctly, go to next step. If turn signals and hazard lights do not operate correctly, see EXTERIOR LIGHTS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Move turn signal switch to left turn position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 23 (Blue/Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. Move turn signal switch to right turn position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 17 (Blue/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If voltage alternates between zero volts with turn signal off and battery voltage with turn signal on, go to next step. If voltage does not alternate between zero volts with turn signal off and battery voltage with turn signal on, repair Blue/Black wire or Blue/Yellow wire and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Configure replacement instrument cluster, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, system is operating properly at this time. Clear any DTCs and retest.
