Test Ac: Instrument Cluster Is Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster to gain access to instrument cluster harness connectors. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220c. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220c terminals No. 11 (Light Green/Orange wire), No. 12 (Black/Light Green wire), No. 19 (Black/Pink wire) and No. 20 (Red/Yellow wire). See Figure. If battery voltage is present at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at any terminal, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220c terminals No. 13 (Pink/Orange wire) and No. 15 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms at both terminals, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms at any terminal, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check instrument cluster for corrosion, pushed out pins and harness connectors that are not connected correctly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose harness connectors. Retest system operation. If problem does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear any DTCs. If problem exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
