Fuel Gauge Test (Gasoline Only)

NOTE: Non-California models are equipped with a 4-pin fuel tank assembly harness connector (C433). See Figure. California models are equipped with an 8-pin fuel tank assembly harness connector (C4033). See Figure.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect fuel tank assembly harness connector. Connect one lead of Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to Yellow/White wire terminal at fuel tank assembly harness connector and other tester lead to ground. Set tester to 15 ohms. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait one minute. Fuel gauge should read empty.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set tester to 160 ohms. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read "F" (full) or above. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. If gauge does not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If gauge operates as specified, check fuel tank, pump and level sensor for damage and replace as necessary.
