Test C: Low Fuel Warning Indicator Always/Never On

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel, right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select instrument cluster WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME active command. Trigger active command ALL LAMPS on and off. Observe the low fuel indicator. If low fuel indicator does not illuminate and turn off as commanded, go to step  3. If low fuel indicator does illuminate and turn off as commanded, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe fuel gauge. If gauge reads correctly, go to next step. If gauge does not read correctly, perform TEST B: FUEL GAUGE READS INCORRECTLY .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and harness connectors that are not connected correctly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose harness connectors. Retest system operation. If problem does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear any DTCs. If problem exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
