Test Y: Climate Control Illumination Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove Integrated Control Panel (ICP) enough to gain access to ICP harness connectors. See INTEGRATED CONTROL PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect ICP 8-pin harness connector C274 (radio). See Figure. Turn parking lights on. Measure voltage between ground and ICP 8-pin harness connector C274 terminal No. 5 (Red/Black wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
  2. NOTE: ICP may be repaired at an authorized repair facility.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and ICP 8-pin harness connector C274 terminal No. 7 (Green wire) while rotating dimmer switch from low to high. If voltage range is .2-11.0 volts, repair or replace ICP. Retest system operation. If voltage range is not .2-11.0 volts, turn parking lights off and go to next step.
  4. Disconnect instrument panel dimming module (dimmer switch) 6-pin harness connector C221. Measure resistance of Green wire between ICP 8-pin harness connector C274 terminal No. 7 and instrument panel dimming module 6-pin harness connector C221 terminal No. 6. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument panel dimming module. Retest system operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
