Engine Rear Cover: Removal

- Remove the upper oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube .
- Remove the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - Upper .
- Remove the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Rear Seal .
- Remove the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.
- Disconnect the CKP electrical connector.
- Remove the 10 bolts and the engine rear cover.
- Remove and discard the engine rear cover gasket.
NOTE:
The upper oil pan must be removed prior to removing the engine rear cover or engine damage may occur.
NOTE:
Do not use magnetic screwdrivers or other magnetic tools around the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the crankshaft sensor pulse ring or damage to the components may occur.
NOTE:
To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.
