Engine Rear Cover: Installation

- Using a new gasket, install the engine rear cover and the 10 bolts. Tighten in the 2 stages, in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten bolts 1-9 to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten bolt 10 to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Connect the CKP electrical connector.
- Install the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Install the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Rear Seal .
- Install the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - Upper .
- Install the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube .
NOTE:
To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.
NOTE:
Do not use magnetic screwdrivers or other magnetic tools around the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the crankshaft sensor pulse ring or damage to the components may occur.
