Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) software with appropriate hardware, or equivalent scan tool
NOTE: This procedure applies to vehicles with and without Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). For additional information, refer to PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION .
  1. Turn the key from the OFF position to the RUN position.
  2. From the scan tool, enter TOOLBOX. Select BODY - SECURITY - PATS Functions and follow the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) on-screen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS.
  3. From the scan tool, select "Parameter Reset" and follow the IDS  on-screen instructions.
    NOTE: If the Body Control Module (BCM) was replaced on vehicles equipped with PATS  , at least two keys must be programmed to the BCM  . After completing step 3, do not disconnect the scan tool and follow the Erase All Keys and Program Two Keys procedure.
