- CHECK the transmission fluid level. ADJUST transmission fluid to correct level. REFER to PRELIMINARY INSPECTION .
- INSTALL a new transmission fluid filter assembly.

- PCM (gasoline engines), Transmission Control Module (TCM) (diesel engines), external vehicle harness, transmission internal harness, Shift Solenoid A (SSA) or Pressure Control Solenoid A (PCA)

- CARRY OUT the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) and Key ON Engine Running (KOER) self-test. For gasoline engines GO to PINPOINT TEST A . For diesel engines GO to PINPOINT TEST F . REPAIR as required. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the vehicle system for normal operation.

- Multiple shift missing (more than one gear)

- If some shifts are missing, determine which shifts do not occur. REFER to clutch and solenoid application charts. MONITOR appropriate PIDs as listed in diagnostics.
- RETRIEVE DTCs.
