Valve Cover - LH: Removal

  1. Remove the crankcase vent oil separator. For additional information, refer to EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM article.
  2. Remove the LH fuel injectors, fuel rail supply tube and LH fuel rail. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - 6.7L DIESEL article.
  3. Remove the LH glow plugs. For additional information, refer to GLOW PLUG SYSTEM - 6.7L DIESEL article.
    4. NOTE: Only 1 retainer shown in illustration.

  4. Disconnect the 2 wire retainers for the fuel injection harness.
  5. Disconnect the 2 wire retainers from the valve cover stud bolts.

  6. Disconnect the wire retainer from the rear valve cover stud bolt.

    7. NOTE: It will be necessary to position aside the oil level indicator tube in order to remove the valve cover.
    NOTE: Mark the location of the fasteners prior to removing the valve cover.
  7. Remove the 15 bolts, 3 stud bolts and the LH valve cover.
    • Remove and discard the valve cover gasket.
