Engine Rear Cover: Removal

  1. Remove the upper oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE  in this service information.
    2. NOTE: The upper oil pan must be removed prior to removing the engine rear cover or engine damage may occur.
  2. Remove the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN - UPPER  in this service information.
  3. Remove the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to CRANKSHAFT REAR SEAL  in this service information.
  4. Remove the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.

  5. Disconnect the CKP electrical connector.

    6. NOTE: To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.
  6. Remove the 10 bolts and the engine rear cover.
    • Remove and discard the engine rear cover gasket.
