Engine Rear Cover: Installation

NOTE: To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.

Using a new gasket, install the engine rear cover and the 10 bolts. Tighten in the 2 stages, in the sequence shown in illustration.
- Stage 1: Tighten bolts 1-9 to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten bolt 10 to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
Connect the CKP electrical connector.

Install the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).

Install the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to CRANKSHAFT REAR SEAL in this service information.
Install the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN - UPPER in this service information.
Install the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE in this service information.
