Valve Spring Free Length

  1. Clean all valve springs in a suitable solvent.
  2. Inspect valve springs for rust, pitting, distortion and cracks. If any of these conditions exist, install new valve springs.
  3. Using a valve spring tester, measure the valve spring free length. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS  in this service information.

  4. Apply the appropriate installed test load to each spring and determine whether the test length is achieved. Repeat for valve open load. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS  in this service information.
