Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - TorqShift, Gasoline Engine: Removal

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
2. Disconnect the front transmission fluid cooler tube assembly hoses from the radiator in-tank cooler and the auxiliary cooler.
3. Remove the front fluid cooler tube secondary latches.
4. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tube assemblies.

5. Disconnect the front cooler tube assembly retainer from the frame rail and remove the front transmission fluid cooler tube assembly.
6. Remove the fluid cooler tube assembly bracket nut.
7. Remove the starter harness bracket nut and position the bracket aside.

Early build vehicles 

8. Remove the remote mount transmission fluid filter secondary latches.
CAUTION: A backup wrench must be used on the remote mounted transmission fluid filter housing while disconnecting and connecting the transmission fluid cooler tubes or damage to the filter housing will occur.
NOTE: The quick connect fittings may need to be removed from the remote mount transmission fluid filter housing in order to disconnect the middle fluid cooler tubes. Do not reuse the quick connect fittings.
9. Using the special tool, disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the remote mount transmission fluid filter housing, and remove the middle fluid cooler tubes from the vehicle.

CAUTION: A backup wrench must be used on the remote mounted transmission fluid filter housing while disconnecting and connecting the transmission fluid cooler tubes or damage to the filter housing will occur.
10. Using a backup wrench, disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes from the remote mounted transmission fluid filter.
11. Remove the remote mounted transmission fluid filter-to-bracket bolt and remove the filter.
12. Remove remote mounted transmission fluid filter bracket bolts and the bracket.

Late build vehicles 

13. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
14. Remove the exhaust system Y-pipe. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.
15. Remove the terminal cover.

16. Remove the starter solenoid cable eyelet nuts and ground cable stud bolt and position the cables aside.

17. Remove and discard the 4 front stabilizer bar bracket nuts.

18. Disconnect the solenoid body electrical connector.

All vehicles 

19. Disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission case and remove them from the vehicle.
