Oil Pan - Lower, Partial Body Lift: Installation

All vehicles
- Install a new press-in-place gasket for the oil pan.
- Position the oil pan and install the pickup tube.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
- Install the oil pan and the 20 bolts.
- Install the 5 longer oil pan bolts.
- Install the remaining oil pan bolts.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
- With the help of an assistant, lower the engine and the body at the same time.
- Remove the straps and reposition the hoist to the frame of the vehicle.
- Position the steering shaft into the housing. Install the new steering shaft bolt.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Position back the master cylinder and bracket. Install the retaining nuts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Connect the brake tubes into the retaining clip.
- Install the brake vacuum pump. For additional information, refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION article.
- Install the secondary generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR article.
- Install the upper cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
- Connect the retaining clip for the power steering cooler tube at the frame.
- Install new body bolts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
- If equipped, install the running boards and bolts.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
- Connect the retaining clip for the transmission cooler tubes at the frame.
- Position back the ground strap and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- If equipped, position the transmission filter bracket assembly and install the transmission-to-engine bolts.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- If equipped, connect the transmission cooler tubes at the external transmission filter.
- Install the retaining clips.
- If equipped, connect the transmission cooler tubes at the external filter.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Position back the transmission cooler tubes on the stud and install the nut.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Install the new transmission mount retaining nuts.
- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
- Install the new LH engine mount retaining nuts.
- Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).
- Install the new RH engine mount retaining nuts.
- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
- Install the exhaust downpipe retaining nuts and bolts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Install the parking brake cable into the frame bracket.
- Connect the parking brake cable at the cable-to-cable union. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE AND ACTUATION article.
- With the help of an assistant, install the hood and bolts. Connect the hood lift rods.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
- Connect the underhood light electrical connector and pin-type retainers.
- Connect the windshield washer hose.
- Fill the engine with the correct motor oil for the climate. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
- Connect the battery ground cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
NOTE:
Install a new O-ring seal on the oil pick up tube and place the tube in the oil pan.
NOTE:
Make sure the motor mount studs are aligned with the frame openings.

NOTE:

Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount retaining nuts or damage to the transmission mount may occur.
