Engine Mount - LH, Partial Body Lift: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Clean the engine support insulator-to-cylinder block and engine support insulator-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
  2. NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed, or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
    NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must not be tightened more than 90 degrees after initial torque or damage to the bolts may occur.
    NOTE: Place a visible mark on the engine mount bracket and bracket bolts. Turning the bolt 1 flat of the bolt head is equal to 60 degrees.
  3. Position the LH engine mount and bracket and install the 4 new bolts. Tighten in 2 stages:
    • It will be necessary to lower the engine slightly to start the bolts.
    • Stage 1: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
    • Stage 2: Tighten a minimum of an additional 60 degrees.
  4. NOTE: Do not tighten the bolt at this time.
  5. Install the new center bolt for the LH engine mount.
  6. Connect the fuel hoses at the engine.

    NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal on the oil indicator and tube. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.
  8. Install the oil indicator and tube. Install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  10. Install the retaining nut for the oil level indicator and tube.
    • Tighten to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft).

    NOTE: Make sure the engine mount studs are aligned with the frame openings.
  12. With the help of an assistant, lower the engine and the body at the same time.
  13. Remove the Universal Cab Hold-Down Straps and reposition the hoist to the frame of the vehicle.
  14. Position the steering shaft into the housing. Install the new steering shaft bolt.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  16. Position back the master cylinder and bracket. Install the 2 retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

  18. Connect the brake tubes into the retaining clip.

    Vehicles with brake vacuum pump (belt driven) 

  20. Install the brake vacuum pump. For additional information, refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION article.
  21. Vehicles with dual generators 

  22. Install the secondary generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR article.
  23. All vehicles 

  24. Install the upper cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  25. Install the ACL assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
  26. Connect the retaining clip for the power steering cooler tube at the frame.

  28. Install new body bolts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

    NOTE: RH side shown, LH side similar.
  30. If equipped, install the running boards and 18 bolts.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  32. Tighten the center bolt for the LH motor mount.
    • Tighten to 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
  33. Connect the retaining clip for the transmission cooler tubes at the frame.

  35. Position back the ground strap and install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  37. Position back the transmission cooler tubes on the stud and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount retaining nuts or damage to the transmission mount may occur.
  39. Install the 2 new transmission mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  41. Install the 3 new LH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  43. Install the 4 new RH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

  45. Install the 2 exhaust downpipe bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  47. Install the parking brake cable into the frame bracket.

  49. Connect the parking brake cable at the cable-to-cable union. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE AND ACTUATION article.
  50. With the help of an assistant, install the hood and 4 bolts. Connect the hood lift rods.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  52. Connect the underhood light electrical connector and pin-type retainers.

  54. Connect the windshield washer hose.
