Pinpoint Test E: DTC B2A20 - Ignition Stuck In Start

NOTE:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
- E1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH MECHANICAL FUNCTION
- Inspect the ignition switch for mechanical function. Refer to Component Tests Ignition Switch - Mechanical.
- Is the ignition switch OK?
- YES : Go to E2.
- NO : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- E2 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR A SHORT
- Carry out the Ignition Switch Component Test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
- Is the ignition switch OK?
- YES : Go to E3.
- NO : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- E3 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP28 (GY/VT) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: Ignition Switch C250
- Disconnect: SJB Fuse 28 (5A)
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 28 (5A), output side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- E4 ISOLATE THE Audio Control Module (ACM)
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: ACM C240A
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 28 (5A), output side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- YES : REPAIR circuit CBP28 (GY/VT). CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : INSTALL a new ACM. REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- E5 CHECK CIRCUITS CDC35 (BU/WH) AND CDC38 (WH/VT) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: PCM C1232B (diesel engine with OTIS)
- Disconnect: PCM C175T (gasoline engine)
- Disconnect: Starter Relay
- Disconnect: OTIS Diode
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 28 (5A), input side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?

- YES : REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH) and/or CDC38 (WH/VT). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO
: For diesel engines without One-Touch Integrated Start (OTIS)
, INSTALL a new starter relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
For diesel engines with OTIS and all gasoline engines , go to E6.
- E6 ISOLATE THE PCM
- Connect: PCM C1232B (diesel with OTIS)
- Connect: PCM C175T (gasoline engine)
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 28 (5A), input side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- YES : INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES article for gasoline engines and ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINE article for diesel engines. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to E7.
- E7 ISOLATE THE STARTER RELAY
- Connect: Starter Relay
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 28 (5A), input side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- YES : INSTALL a new starter relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to E8.
- E8 CHECK THE OTIS DIODE FOR A SHORT OR AN OPEN
- Check the diode.
- Is the diode shorted or open?
- YES : INSTALL a new OTIS diode. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to E9.
- E9 CHECK THE SJB CONNECTORS
- Disconnect: SJB C2280E
- Check SJB connectors C2280B and C2280E for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect: SJB C2280B
- Connect: SJB C2280E
- Make sure the connectors are seated correctly, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
