P2286 - Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit High

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2007 Ford RV Cutaway, 2007 Ford Pickup, 2007 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2007 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2007 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P2286 - INJECTOR CONTROL PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) continuously monitors the signal of the injection control pressure (ICP) sensor to determine if the signal is within an expected range. If the PCM detects a higher or lower than expected voltage value, the PCM sets a DTC, illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), ignores the ICP sensor signal, and uses a preset value based on engine operating conditions.
Possible Causes:
  • ICP circuit short to voltage in the harness
  • SIGRTN circuit open in the harness
  • ICP sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  The ICP sensor bias varies between sensors. The amount of voltage the sensor deviates from a calculated reference value (sensor bias) may cause an injection control pressure calculation error. Check for input sensor bias.
