Test F: Low Oil Pressure Indicator Inoperative (DTC B1308)
NOTE:
Ensure oil level is correct before proceeding with this test.
- Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. If DTC B1308 is retrieved, go to next step. If no DTC was retrieved, go to step 4 . If any other DTC were retrieved, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using NGS tester, select and monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID reads notOK, go to next step. If PID does not read notOK, clear DTCs. Repeat FEM self-test, and go to step 9 .
- Disconnect oil pressure switch single pin harness connector. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID changes from notOK to OK, replace oil pressure switch. If PID does not change from notOK to OK, repair short to ground in Brown/Orange wire.
- Using NGS tester, monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. Start engine and monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID does not change from notOK to OK, go to next step, If PID changes from notOK to OK, go to step 8 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. Disconnect oil pressure switch single pin harness connector. Connect fused jumper wire between oil pressure switch harness connector Brown/Orange wire terminal and ground. If FEM PID does not read notOK, remove jumper wire, exit FEM PID and go to next step. If FEM PID reads notOK replace oil pressure switch. If fused jumper wire blows, remove jumper and go to step 7 .
- Disconnect FEM 12-pin harness connector C190. Check continuity of Brown/Orange wire between FEM harness connector C190 terminal No. 9 and oil pressure switch harness connector. See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Brown/Orange wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and FEM harness connector C190 terminal No. 9 (Brown/Orange wire). If voltage does not exist, clear DTCs, repeat FEM self-test, and go to step 9 . If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Brown/Orange wire.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor low oil pressure indicator. Low oil pressure indicator should illuminate. Start engine and monitor low oil pressure indicator. Low oil pressure indicator should remain illuminated for about 3 seconds after engine is started, then turn off. If low oil pressure indicator is as specified, go to next step. If low oil pressure indicator is not as specified, go to step 10 .
- Disconnect all FEM harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all FEM harness connectors, ensuring they seat correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace FEM. Clear DTCs and perform FEM self-test. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they seat correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. Clear DTCs and perform instrument cluster self-test. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
