Test H: Odometer Inoperative
NOTE:
Instrument cluster receives odometer signal from Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) bus circuit. PCM receives vehicle speed signal from output shaft sensor. If instrument cluster does not receive odometer rolling count status for two seconds, dashes will be displayed in odometer display.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If odometer displays all dashes, repair odometer input from PCM. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If odometer does not display all dashes, go to next step.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. It may be necessary to remove instrument cluster for access to instrument cluster harness connectors. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Inspect all instrument cluster harness connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If terminals are damaged, repair as necessary. If terminals are not damaged, reconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Ensure instrument cluster harness connectors are seated properly. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster module.
