Test D: Low Fuel Indicator Inoperative/Always On
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME. Trigger active command ALL LAMPS while observing LOW FUEL warning indicator. If low fuel warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low fuel warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step 3 .
- Check fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge operates properly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate properly, perform TEST C: INCORRECT FUEL GAUGE INDICATION .
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. It may be necessary to remove instrument cluster for access to connectors. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Inspect all instrument cluster harness connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If terminals are damaged, repair as necessary. If terminals are not damaged, reconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Ensure instrument cluster harness connectors are seated properly. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster module.
