Test Ab: Control Illumination Inoperative

  1. Turn headlight switch to ON position. If all exterior lights operate properly, go to next step. If any exterior lights do not operate properly, repair as necessary. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS and HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS articles.
  2. Turn headlight switch to OFF position. Remove and test headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If headlight switch is okay, go to next step. If headlight switch is not okay, replace headlight switch.
  3. Reconnect headlight switch harness connector. Turn headlight switch to ON position. Rotate headlight switch thumbwheel to brightest position. Measure voltage between ground and output side of fuse No. 37 (5-amp), located in Central Junction Box (CJB). CJB is located behind left side of instrument panel. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire between headlight switch terminal "I" and input side of fuse No. 37.   4. Repair open in CJB output circuit (Light Blue/Red wire). See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
