Disabling System (Aurora, Bonneville, LeSabre & Park Avenue)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove key from ignition switch.
  2. Remove SIR fuse from fuse block. Wait one minute. On Aurora, Bonneville and LeSabre, fuse is in rear fuse block beneath rear seat cushion, on driver's side. On Park Avenue, fuse is in underhood fuse block. On all models, remove sound insulator panel from under left side of instrument panel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect driver 2-pin Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove passenger sound insulator from under right side of instrument panel. For passenger air bag, remove CPA clip and disconnect 2-pin Yellow SIR connector from vehicle harness. Harness is above sound insulator. See Fig 2.

  4. Remove CPA clip from driver side air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. Disconnect Yellow SIR connector from vehicle harness. The connector is located under driver's seat. See Fig 3. Repeat procedure for passenger side air bag connector under passenger's seat.
