Single CARDAN Universal Joints: Assembly

  1. Apply grease to both alignment bushing cavities. Align index marks and position alignment bushing on pinion flange piloting stem. Install spacers and bolts to carrier bearing to their original position. DO NOT tighten bolts at this time.
  2. Loosen length adjusting nut and slide front shaft assembly forward. Align index marks and position alignment bushing on transmission flange piloting stem. Coat nut and bolt threads with Threadlock (262E2FZ-19554-B) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A6. Install bolt washers and nuts and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Using Drive shaft Coupler Torquing Wrenches (205-474), tighten length adjusting nut. Install heat shield. Install body brace. Lower vehicle.
