Spongy Brake Pedal, With/Without Abs Operation (No Warning Lights Illuminated)

  1. Check brakelines or hoses, fittings, master cylinder, and calipers. If conventional brake system components are okay, go to next step. If conventional brake system components are faulty, see appropriate DISC & DRUM article for diagnosis.
  2. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Check brake system for proper operation. If brake pedal is still spongy, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
