Removal & Installation Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
On 4-door and wagon models, remove front seat belt lower anchor bolt and remove anchor bolt and spacer from seat belt webbing. On 3-door models, remove front seat belt lower anchor rail bolt and slide seat belt off rail. On all models, release upper B-pillar trim panel retainers. Feed seat belt webbing through upper B-pillar trim panel opening and remove trim panel. Remove seat belt upper anchor bolt.
On 4-door and wagon models, remove lower B-pillar trim panel. On 3-door models, remove screws, release clips and remove lower trim panel. On all models, slide waist guide loop backwards and down and detach waist guide loop. Disconnect seat belt pretensioner electrical connector. Remove seat belt retractor-pretensioner mounting bolt and retractor-pretensioner assembly.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Ensure air bag system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
