Possible Causes
Passenger-side air bag circuit capacitance out of range could be caused by poor connection, corrosion or excessive resistance in wiring harness, air bag module or an internal RCM fault.
- Check passenger-side air bag
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Perform on-demand self-test. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC B1920 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1920 is not retrieved, replace passenger-side air bag module. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING FAULT CODES under DIAGNOSTICS. Repeat on-demand self-test. - Check passenger-side air bag module circuit
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Access RCM and disconnect harness connector C424. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect passenger-side air bag simulator. Measure resistance of Green-White wire between RCM harness connector C424, terminals No. 5 and passenger-side air bag module harness connector. See Figure. Measure resistance of Black-White wire between RCM harness connector C424, terminals No. 6 and passenger-side air bag module harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RCM. Activate air bag system. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Green-White or Black-White wire as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Activate air bag system. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test.
