Thermostat Housing - 2.0L Duratec-ST (Zetec): Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Remove the ignition coil cover.
    1. Detach the retaining clips.
    2. Detach the coolant pipe from the retaining clip.

  3. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing.

  4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.

  5. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts.

  6. Using the special tool, detach the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat housing.

  7. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
