Removal & Installation (Villager)
- Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Disconnect both battery cables. Wait one minute to deplete air bag back-up power supply. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & AIR BAG . Remove driver side air bag module.
- Remove lower and upper steering column shroud. Remove bolts and instrument panel reinforcement. Remove heater duct upper screw and heater duct.
- Remove transmission range indicator. Disconnect ignition switch electrical connector. Disconnect air bag sliding contact connectors. Disconnect key in reminder electrical connector.
- Disconnect shift lock actuator electrical connector. Remove multi-function switch from column. Remove overdrive cancel switch electrical connector.
- Remove steering column clamp bolt. Remove steering column mounting bracket nuts. Remove cable from ball socket. Slide cable housing from column. Remove column from vehicle.
- To install steering column, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure all components operate properly.
