Trouble Shooting

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. Proper grounding of technician and workplace is essential to prevent damage.

Verify customer's complaint by operating system in question. Check for low brake fluid level, damaged engine oil filter, damaged oil pump, damaged vehicle speed sensor gear and damaged washer fluid reservoir. Check for stuck coolant temperature gauge needle, stuck oil pressure gauge needle, stuck voltage gauge needle, stuck fuel gauge needle and stuck speedometer needle. Check for low engine oil, low washer fluid, damaged light switches, tripped inertia fuel shutoff switch, and worn or damaged generator drive belt.

Check for blown fuse(s), damaged miniature bulbs, damaged wiring harness, loose or corroded connections, and damaged instrument cluster printed circuit. Verify charging system, cooling system, fuel system, safety belt warning chime, turn signals, headlights and theft control are working properly. Inspect wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections or damage. If problem is found, repair as necessary. If no problem is found, perform self-diagnostics.
