Test D: Speedometer Inaccurate

  1. Ensure vehicle is equipped with correct size tires. If tires are correct size, go to next step. If tires are not correct size, replace with correct size tires and recheck system operation.
  2. Test odometer. See ODOMETER  under COMPONENT TESTS. If odometer is operating and is accurate, go to TEST E: SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER INOPERATIVE  test. If odometer is not operating or is not accurate, replace speedometer. See GAUGES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
