Test Y: Wait To Start Indicator Is Inoperative (Diesel)
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 104-pin harness connector C1027. PCM is located on left side of firewall. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ground and PCM 104-pin harness connector C1027 terminal No. 70 (Black/Pink wire). See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If WAIT TO START indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If WAIT TO START indicator illuminates, diagnose PCM problem. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster to gain access to instrument cluster harness connectors. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Disconnect instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C250C. Measure resistance of Black/Pink wire between instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C250C terminal No. 1 and PCM 104-pin harness connector C1027 terminal No. 70. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Pink wire between instrument cluster and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster to access WAIT TO START indicator bulb. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Remove WAIT TO START indicator bulb. Test bulb for continuity. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster. Retest system operation. If bulb is not okay, replace bulb. Retest system operation.
