Temperature Gauge

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrumentation Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sender 2-pin harness connector C131. See Figure. Connect one lead of Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to instrumentation ECT sender 2-pin harness connector C131 terminal No. 1 (Red/White wire) and other lead to ground.
  2. Set tester to 300 ohms. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read "C" (cold). Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  3. Set tester to 45 ohms. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read between one fourth and mid-range. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  4. Set tester to 18 ohms. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read "H" (hot). Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
