Test V: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative - Chime Operative (DTC B1323 & DTC B1325)

  1. Operate interior lights by opening and closing all doors and liftgate. If interior lighting system operates properly, go to next step. If interior lighting system does not operate properly, repair interior lights as necessary. See INTERIOR/ILLUMINATION LIGHTS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test. If DTC B1323 or B1325 is retrieved, go to next step. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to step  5 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C220a. See Figure for location. Disconnect GEM 22-pin harness connector C201a. See Figure for location. Measure resistance of Violet/Light Green wire between instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 15 and GEM harness connector C201a terminal No. 10. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 15 (Violet/Light Green wire). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and GEM, and 10 k/ohms or more between instrument cluster and ground. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire.
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 15 (Violet/Light Green wire). See Figure . If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Violet/Light Green wire.
  5. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
