Test Z: Transmission Selector Illumination Inoperative
- Turn ignition off. Remove transmission selector bulb. Check continuity between terminals of bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace transmission selector bulb.
- Disconnect transmission selector illumination harness connector. Turn parking lights on. Measure voltage between ground and transmission selector illumination harness connector Red/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Black wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and transmission selector illumination harness connector Red wire while rotating rheostat from left to right. If voltage range is .2-11 volts, repair or replace transmission selector illumination socket assembly. If voltage range is not .2-11 volts, repair open in Red wire.
NOTE:
Ensure instrument cluster connector C252 is connected or inaccurate results will occur. See Figure
