Test W: Instrument Panel Illumination Will Not Dim
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument panel dimming module (dimmer switch) connector C221. Turn parking lights on. Measure voltage between ground and instrument panel dimming module connector terminal No. 4 (Red/Black wire). See Fig 1
. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn parking lights off and go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Red/Yellow wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and instrument panel dimming module connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Disconnect transmission selector illumination harness connector. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C252. See Figure
. Disconnect Integrated Control Panel (ICP) connector C274 (radio). See Figure
. Measure resistance between ground and instrument panel dimming module connector C221 terminals No. 6 (Green wire) and No. 1 (Red wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument panel dimming module. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Green or Red wire.
