Temperature Gauge

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect engine coolant temperature indicator sender unit. Connect one lead of Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to Red/White wire terminal at water temperature indicator sender unit harness connector and other lead to ground.
  2. Set tester to 300 ohms. Turn ignition on. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read "C" (cold). Turn ignition off.
  3. Set tester to 45 ohms. Turn ignition on. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read one fourth of mid-range. Turn ignition off.
  4. Set tester to 18.3 ohms. Turn ignition on. Wait one minute and read gauge. Gauge should read "H" (hot). Turn ignition off. If gauge does not operate as specified, replace temperature gauge.
