Test S: Improper Check Coolant Indicator Operation: Coupe

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect low coolant level warning sensor connector C170. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector C170 Black/Yellow wire terminal. Voltage should be more than 10 volts. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector C170 Black wire terminal. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector C170 Yellow/Green wire terminal. Voltage should be more than 10 volts. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace low coolant level sensor. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove CHECK COOLANT indicator light bulb. Check continuity between terminals of bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace CHECK COOLANT indicator light bulb and retest system.
  5. Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors. See Figure . Measure resistance of Yellow/Green wire between low coolant sensor connector C170 and instrument cluster harness connector C254 terminal No. 10. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C254 terminal No. 10 (Yellow/Green wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
