Sedan & Wagon
- If safety belt warning chime works properly, go to next step. If warning chime is not okay, check warning chime and related circuits. See
WARNING SYSTEMS article.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove safety belt warning indicator light bulb. Check continuity between terminals of bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace safety belt warning indicator light bulb.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors. See Figure
. Disconnect interior fuse junction panel connector C230. See Fig 1
. Measure resistance of Pink/White wire between interior fuse junction panel connector C230 terminal No. 3 and instrument cluster harness connector C254 terminal No. 6. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C254 terminal No. 6 (Pink/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, reconnect interior fuse junction panel connector C230 and go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Pink/White wire between instrument cluster connector and junction panel connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS

- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C252 terminal No. 4 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure
. Voltage should be more than 10 volts. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
