Test L: High Beam Indicator Is Inoperative/Always On

  1. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no DTCs were retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2586 is retrieved, see AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - WINDSTAR article for testing procedure.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Place headlight switch in ON position. Ensure multifunction switch is in high beam position. Select and monitor instrument cluster PID LSWMODE. If PID reads HIGH_B, go to next step. If PID does not read HIGH_B, repair high beam circuit. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - WINDSTAR article.
  3. Select instrument cluster WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME active command. Trigger ALL LAMPS active command. If high beam indicator turns on, system is okay. If high beam indicator does not turn on, replace instrument cluster.
