Test K: Brake Warning Indicator Is Never On (With Parking Brake Engaged)

CAUTION: Use correct test probe adaptors when making measurements. Failure to use correct probe adapter may cause damage to connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disengage parking brake. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect parking brake position switch connector C306. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and (Light Green wire) at parking brake position switch harness connector C306. If parking brake warning indicator illuminates, replace parking brake switch. If parking brake warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM harness connector C201c. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure resistance between (Light Green wire) at parking brake harness connector C306 and terminal No. 1 (Light Green wire) at GEM module harness connector C201c. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green wire and retest.
  3. Visually inspect GEM module connectors for loose connections, pushed out pins or corrosion. Repair any problems found. Operate system to verify problem is still present. If problem still exists, replace GEM module. See appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. Repeat GEM self-test. If no problems are found at this point, system is operating correctly at this time.
