Test I: All Warning Indicators Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect generator connector C102a. On 3.0L 4V engine, connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) at generator harness connector C102a. On 3.0L 2V engine, connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) at generator harness connector C1104. If system warning indicator illuminates, repair charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If system warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C220b. See Figure . On 3.0L 4V engine, measure resistance between terminal No. 9 (Light Green/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector and terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) at generator harness connector. On 3.0L 2V engine, measure resistance between terminal No. 9 (Light Green/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector and terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) at generator harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Red wire and retest.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector C220b. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between terminal No. 10 (Red/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION and retest. If battery voltage does not exist, repair circuit and retest.
