Test G: Tachometer Is Inoperative

CAUTION: Use correct test probe adapters when making measurements. Failure to use correct probe adapter may cause damage to connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector C175. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C220b. Figure . Measure resistance between terminal No. 48 (Tan/Yellow wire) at PCM harness connector and terminal No. 8 (Tan/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Yellow wire and retest.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire and retest.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors C220a and C220b. Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit for damage. If instrument cluster printed circuit is damaged, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If instrument cluster printed circuit is not damaged, replace tachometer. See TACHOMETER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
