Test E: The Low Oil Pressure Warning Indicator Is Inoperative
- Disconnect engine oil pressure switch harness connector C103. Turn ignition on. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ground and White/Red wire at engine oil pressure switch harness connector C103. If oil pressure warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If oil pressure warning light does not illuminate, go to step 3 .
- Check engine oil pressure. If oil pressure is within specification, replace oil pressure switch. If oil pressure is incorrect, see appropriate 3.0L article in ENGINES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b. See Figure . Measure resistance between terminal No. 3 (White/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b and engine oil pressure switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (White/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and oil pressure switch, or more than 10 k/ohms between instrument cluster and ground, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and oil pressure switch, or less than 10 k/ohms between the instrument cluster and ground, repair open or short in White/Red wire and retest.
- Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit for damage or hot spots. If instrument cluster printed circuit is okay, replace oil pressure gauge. If instrument cluster printed circuit is not okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
