Test F: Speedometer/Odometer Inoperative

CAUTION: Use correct test probe adapters when making measurements. Failure to use correct probe adapter may cause damage to connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector C175. See Fig 1 . Disconnect instrument cluster connector C220b. See Figure . Measure resistance between terminal No. 68 (Gray/Black wire) at PCM harness connector and terminal No. 16 (Gray/Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray/Black wire and retest circuit.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire and retest.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors C220a and C220b. Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit for damage. If instrument cluster printed circuit is damaged, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If printed circuit is not damaged, replace speedometer. See SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
