Removal (Upper Intake Manifold: 2001 Model Year)

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube.
Remove the pin-type retainers and the snow shield. See Figure.
Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control actuator cable and the throttle return spring from the throttle body. See Figure.
Remove the bolts, then position the accelerator cable bracket aside. See Figure.
Disconnect the vacuum hose. Disconnect the evaporative emissions return tube. See Fig 1.

Disconnect the idle air control (IAC). Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor. See Fig 2.

Disconnect the engine wiring harness from the intake manifold support bracket. See Fig 3.

Remove the upper intake manifold support bracket. Remove the bolts. Remove the nut. See Fig 4.

Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube from the upper intake manifold. See Fig 5.

Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube from the EGR valve. Loosen the nut. See Fig 6.

Disconnect the vacuum tube from the EGR valve. See Figure.
Disconnect the vacuum tube from the upper intake manifold and electronic vacuum regulator (EVR) and disconnect the electrical connector from the EVR. See Figure.
Disconnect the wire harness retaining clip. See Fig 7.

Disconnect the spark plug holder. See Fig 8.

Remove the upper intake manifold. Remove the four bolts. Remove the intake manifold. See Fig 9.
