Installation (Continental, 3.0L 2V - Sable & Taurus)

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install NEW circlip on axle shaft before installing axle shaft. Fill transaxle with appropriate fluid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION article.
  2. To center subframe in chassis, slightly tighten mount bolts. Repeat procedure for right side of subframe assembly. Align both sides of subframe. See Fig 1. Tighten subframe-to-body mount bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check and adjust axle shaft positioning. See appropriate FWD AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVE AXLES. Check front toe-in after installation, and adjust as necessary.
