Installation (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mustang & Town Car)

To install transmission, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure torque converter is fully seated in oil pump. Lubricate torque converter pilot with chassis grease.
Align orange balancing marks on torque converter and drive plate, if equipped. Align torque converter drive studs and drain plug with holes in drive plate.
Fill transmission with appropriate fluid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION article. If gearshift lever has been disassembled, install NEW plastic grommets.
