Ball Joint Checking

CAUTION: When hoisting FWD vehicles, ensure hoist adapters are positioned properly. See JACKING & HOISTING in appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.

Raise vehicle so wheels hang freely. Grasp tire by top and bottom edges. Move wheel assembly in and out. Any movement between lower end of knuckle and control arm indicates ball joint wear. Replace steering knuckle. See STEERING KNUCKLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

NOTE: Parts does show that there is a replacement lower ball joint available but the manufacturer does not give any separate ball joint replacement procedures.
