Test E: Steering Wheel Not Centered Properly

NOTE: Steering wheel centerline should be within 3 degrees of vertical plane after toe-in is adjusted.

  1. Incorrect Toe Setting

    Set alignment to correct setting. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES -- CARS article in SUSPENSIONS.
  2. Flex Coupling Clamp Bolts Loose/Missing

    Replace and tighten to specification.
  3. Pinion Installed In Rack Off Location

    Replace power steering short rack. See STEERING GEAR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Power Rack & Pinion Steering Gear Loose On Front Subframe

    Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
